What Are You Feeding Your Mitochondria?

This is a great video of Dr. Terry Wahls at a TED convention talk on how she used food rather than med's to help cure her MS. While she was in a wheel-chair she started to do research on mitochondria - the power house of each and every cell in your body (there are about 2,500 mitochondria in a every cell). Mitochondria actually get larger with physiological stress and their structure is altered and they generate most of the cell's supply of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), which is a source of energy used by cells to do chemical and mechanical work and eventually part of the aerobic metabolism process.

Dr. Wahl's eventually switched to a plant based diet and began to eat what our ancient hunter and gatherer's ate - an abundance of plants, berries, meats and fish - considered part of a "Paleo Diet." More on the Paleolithic Diet here in an article by Dr. Balzer.
